Start by learning to survive, host a mission chain that needs no property, and build one manageable income source. You do not need a supercar collection to have a useful evening in Los Santos.
This guide is for solo beginners on PC Enhanced, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S with an active paid GTA+ membership. Buying GTA+ is the first requirement of this particular starting route, not a requirement to play GTA Online. Shark Cards are not part of the route. You also need access to the game and any online multiplayer subscription required by your console platform.
Your short starting route
- Check your edition and activate GTA+ for the account and platform you will use. Create your character and finish the introduction the game gives you.
- If Career Builder appears, choose a business and keep a practical cash reserve. If it does not, continue with your existing character.
- Enter an Invite Only Session. Check the GTA+ cash actually credited, claim the eligible member vehicle, and learn the map, phone, cover, snacks, and armor.
- Start First Dose to meet Dax. Try Vincent's Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid when you are comfortable fighting from cover.
- Finish First Dose as host, collect the lab equipment, and fund the Acid Lab installation. Fit Dax's separate Fooligan Jobs into later sessions.
- Upgrade that lab before collecting more businesses. Then choose Agency missions or Cayo Perico according to what you actually enjoy.
Treat these as milestones across several evenings. Reaching a mission checkpoint, learning a difficult encounter, or unlocking a useful contact is progress even when you have not yet bought a business.
Before you begin: activate GTA+ and use it
Purchase GTA+ for your playing account and platform through Rockstar's membership page. Check the displayed local price and recurring billing terms before confirming. We use membership for a starting cash contribution, an eligible vehicle to claim, and convenient business management; it does not complete missions or unlock every business for you.
Start with money that has arrived. The monthly GTA$500,000 deposit follows subscription billing, not the start of a new benefits event. Check Maze Bank before counting it toward a purchase. Do not add another GTA$500,000 simply because the benefits calendar changes. Rockstar's deposit timing.
Reserve that cash toward the Acid Lab rather than immediately spending it on cosmetics. Once received, GTA$500,000 covers half of the GTA$1,000,000 installation-and-upgrade budget explained below; mission progress, the other half, and operating expenses still have to be covered. Career Builder cash is separate, and its maximum carry-over is not guaranteed if you spend more during setup.
Claim before shopping. Open The Vinewood Club App on your in-game phone or visit the Car Club to inspect the current member vehicle. Verify that the claim price is GTA$0 and select storage when prompted. Use the eligible reward as transport before buying a similar car. The vehicle changes with the offer period; a test-drive loan is not the same as claiming ownership. Membership benefits.
Use the phone tools as your businesses grow. The Vinewood Club App provides vehicle requests, ammo purchases, collection of accumulated safe earnings, and supported staff-management actions. These save trips; they do not create income from businesses you do not own or turn unsold product into a safe balance. The Vinewood Club features.
Dated offer: 10 September–7 October 2026. Rockstar lists 2X GTA$ for the first Cluckin' Bell finale completed each week during this period. Schedule a first hosted completion in a week when you can finish the chain; repeated finales that week do not all get this offer. The September announcement also offers the Pegassi Horus as the claimable member vehicle and 60% off Biker Business properties, upgrades, and modifications. A discounted business still needs capital and attention, so it does not automatically outrank the Acid Lab route. After 7 October, treat this paragraph as an expired example and check the new offers; do not carry its multiplier into your budget. Rockstar's September GTA+ announcement.
1. Choose the right edition and learn the controls
On PC, launch Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced, not Legacy. On PS5, check that you installed the PS5 edition; on Xbox Series X|S, use the Series edition rather than the Xbox One version. New hardware alone does not identify the installed game edition.
Enhanced and Legacy PC sessions are separate, and there is no shared matchmaking across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Agree on the same platform and edition before arranging a session with a friend. Edition and multiplayer explanation.
Choose GTA Online from the game's main menu and follow the character-creation prompts. A returning player may see migration options; read those separately before moving an existing profile. This starting route does not require migration or a character reset.
These are default controls. If you changed your bindings or use a controller on PC, follow the on-screen prompts and the controls screen.

| Action | PC keyboard | PS5 controller | Xbox Series X/S controller |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pause menu and full map | Esc | Options | Menu |
| Interaction Menu | M | Hold touchpad | Hold View |
| Open phone | Up arrow | D-pad Up | D-pad Up |
| Weapon wheel | Hold Tab | Hold L1 | Hold LB |
Rockstar documents the Interaction Menu controls. Practice opening and closing it while stationary. It does not pause GTA Online, even when you are alone.
2. Start with Career Builder — or without it
If Career Builder is offered: its GTA$4,000,000 is a one-time starting allocation. You must spend at least GTA$3,000,000 within the selection process and can carry no more than GTA$1,000,000 into play. The four paths are Executive, Gunrunner, Nightclub Owner, and Biker. Deleting a character does not restore the allocation. Rockstar's Career Builder rules.
For a cautious solo start, I would favor Nightclub Owner if you like short upkeep visits, or Gunrunner if you want to learn supply-and-sale management. That is a preference about workload, not a promise that either produces the most money immediately. Compare the packages shown before confirming; prioritize a usable business, adequate equipment, and transport over cosmetics.
Finish your selected career's introduction. Write down what you now own and how much cash remains. A nightclub, bunker, or warehouse obtained here is already part of your route: learn it before purchasing a replacement.
If Career Builder is absent: keep going. Finish the introduction available to your character and use the property-free missions below. You will take longer to build a reserve, but you are not missing a mandatory unlock. Do not assume that a second character qualifies for another starting package.
3. Make your first session manageable
Once you reach Freemode, open Pause > Online > Find New Session > Invite Only Session. This gives you space to learn without strangers interrupting. Eligible business sourcing and sales can run in private sessions; public-session bonuses are optional compensation for extra risk. Session and business guidance.
Open the map and use its legend to find a destination, then set a waypoint using the displayed prompt. Start with one mission marker. You do not need to understand every icon today. Your phone holds Contacts, job invitations, and the Internet; later, Dax and Mutt will be especially useful contacts.
Buy snacks at a convenience store and body armor at Ammu-Nation. Use what your rank allows. In the Interaction Menu, look under Health and Ammo to replenish health or equip carried armor. While holding the weapon wheel, follow the displayed snack and armor shortcuts when available. Old guides may call the menu Inventory. Menu reference.
Use a pistol and an available automatic weapon you can handle; replenish their ammunition. A Career Builder loadout may already cover this; check the Vinewood Club App for convenient ammunition purchases. Avoid buying several similar guns before you know which one you use.
For transport, use your claimed GTA+ vehicle or the vehicle supplied by your introduction or Career Builder. Check tracker and insurance status before treating a vehicle as your permanent car. A borrowed street car can handle an early trip; it is not automatically an insured personal vehicle.
Before a firefight, park somewhere sensible, locate cover, and reload. Fight one angle at a time. If you keep dying, restock and choose a lower offered difficulty rather than buying an expensive vehicle in frustration. The first goal is a repeatable completion, not a fast completion.
4. Earn your first money with Vincent
In Freemode, wait for Vincent's call, then visit the V at Vespucci Police Station to start Cluckin' Bell Farm Raid. This is not Dispatch Work: you do not need to buy a police car. The raid supports solo play and requires no property purchase or setup fee. Rockstar's raid introduction.
Host your own chain. Slush Fund leads into Breaking and Entering, equipment and getaway preparations, Disorganized Crime, and the Scene of the Crime finale. Return to Vincent's marker as the next job becomes available.
The train and hacking-device preparation can feel unfamiliar; read the objective before shooting mission equipment. For the factory, patience matters more than speed. During Disorganized Crime, follow the sabotage and CCTV objectives carefully if you want the stealth option. Losing stealth is a reason to use cover, not proof that the whole attempt is worthless. Raid walkthrough.
The 2026 payout change matters. Rockstar's 1.73 update ties the enhanced weekly reward to whether the host has completed that activity's finale in the current weekly period. It also changes The Data Leaks and Cayo Perico's economy, so older grind calculations need rechecking. Rockstar 1.73 notes.

| Cluckin' Bell situation | Amount and conditions |
|---|---|
| First hosted finale in the weekly period | GTA$600,000 for the host |
| Further hosted finales that period | GTA$400,000 for the host |
| Entry | GTA$0 setup fee; no property required |
| Joining another host | Separate participant reward; not the host amount |
The numerical host amounts are corroborated by GTABase's updated payout table and GTA Boss's August guide. These are the baseline amounts before the dated GTA+ offer above; they exclude setup earnings, separate first-ever Awards, and temporary promotions. Do not budget an unclaimed Award as cash already received.
A host cooldown follows completion. Use the wait for another activity instead of repeatedly trying to restart. Do not expect a beginner's full chain to fit a speedrunner's video length.
5. Meet Dax and build the Acid Lab
For First Dose, follow Ron's call to Ace Liquor in Sandy Shores and start Welcome to the Troupe. Continue the Dax mission chain from the Freakshop. Host all six missions to progress your own unlocks. These missions need no purchased business and can be played solo. Drug Wars introduction.
My suggested learning order is the opening First Dose mission, some practice with cover, Vincent's chain for capital, then the rest of First Dose. If one strand becomes frustrating, switch to the other. You are learning different encounters, not racing a fixed timetable.
Expect defensive fights and unfamiliar objectives. The hallucinatory mission deliberately behaves differently; follow its prompts. For Off the Rails, slow down around enemies and mission cargo. Read the objective before moving the truck. A failed attempt costs attention and consumables, so start longer missions when you have time to finish.
After First Dose, the recovered Brickade is not yet a working lab. Complete the equipment collection setup, including the loading step, then speak to Mutt at the Freakshop to install the Acid Lab. Unlock walkthrough.

| Mission-route purchase | Requirement | Standard cost |
|---|---|---|
| Acid Lab installation | Finish First Dose as host and recover lab equipment | GTA$750,000 |
| Equipment Upgrade | Complete 10 separate Fooligan Jobs for Dax | GTA$250,000 |
| Total installation plus upgrade | Both requirements completed | GTA$1,000,000 |
These are in-game purchases without discounts, not real-money purchases. The total excludes supplies, ammunition, armor, and optional vehicle modifications. Costs and requirements.
Once Dax is a contact after the opening mission, call him and choose Request Work. These are Fooligan Jobs; replaying First Dose does not replace them. There is a 48-minute cooldown between successful jobs, so spread the ten completions across sessions. Last Dose is a separate storyline, not a prerequisite for this equipment upgrade. Fooligan Job mechanics.
For the operating loop, obtain supplies through Mutt, let production run while you play, then launch a sale. The Acid Lab uses one delivery bike, which makes it a manageable solo business. Supplies become stock; stock becomes money only after a sale. Offline time does not manufacture product. Acid Lab operation.
Reserve the upgrade money before optional purchases. If your Career Builder business is already useful, alternate its manageable tasks with Dax's jobs. The Acid Lab is an additional option, not a reason to abandon an existing income source.
6. Decide what deserves your next savings
After learning one business, choose the next purchase by the kind of session you want.
Swipe or scroll sideways to see every column.
| Choice | Standard entry price | Best fit and extra budget |
|---|---|---|
| Little Seoul Agency | GTA$2,010,000, base property | Story-led combat and shorter contracts; optional armory and workshop cost extra |
| Kosatka | GTA$2,200,000, base submarine | Learning Cayo Perico's scouting, preparation, and stealth; setup fees and optional Sparrow are extra |
The Agency price is documented in this location comparison; Kosatka pricing and the Miguel Madrazo meeting requirement are documented by GTABase. These are non-discounted entry prices, not all-in packages or earnings forecasts.
Choose Agency if you prefer working through combat missions and having several activities available from a city base. Security Contracts lead into the Dr. Dre VIP storyline. Do not buy it expecting an immediately maximized passive safe or the same finale payment on every repeat. Agency mission progression.
Choose Kosatka if scouting an island and practicing a heist route sounds enjoyable. Meet Miguel at the Music Locker to unlock the purchase, then follow Pavel's planning board. A Sparrow is convenient, but do not mentally include it in the submarine's base price. Allow for setup costs and mistakes before deciding you can afford the whole routine.
If you own a Nightclub, separate its two incomes. Popularity controls money accumulating in the office safe. The warehouse uses technicians and eligible linked businesses to accumulate goods for sale; popularity alone does not fill it. Linked businesses must be set up and not shut down, but do not need supplies merely to support technician accrual. Acid Lab is not a Nightclub feeder. Nightclub mechanics.
A Career Builder nightclub can therefore be useful before a large warehouse network exists. Keep up its popularity and collect the safe; expand the warehouse only when you can explain what each additional purchase enables.
7. A checklist for your next sessions
- Check your GTA+ offers and their end dates; claim eligible rewards before buying alternatives.
- Refill the consumables you used and confirm your next destination.
- Complete one mission or preparation step before browsing shopping websites.
- Request a Dax job if available and record successful completions toward ten.
- Check supplies and stock in the business you are actually using; collect available safe earnings through the Vinewood Club App.
- Leave enough time for a sale; starting one tired and rushed is avoidable risk.
- Note your cash, owned equipment, and next unlock before logging off.
FAQ
Can I follow this entirely solo?
Yes: the recommended mission chains and Acid Lab route support solo play. Not every activity in GTA Online does. When experimenting beyond this guide, check the lobby's player requirement before buying a property for its heist.
Do I need GTA+?
Yes, an active paid GTA+ membership is a requirement of this guide's route. GTA Online itself does not require it. We use its credited cash, claimable vehicle, and convenience tools, while keeping dated bonuses separate from baseline earnings. Membership is separate from your platform's online multiplayer subscription; no Shark Card purchase is required.
What if I never received Career Builder?
Use the no-bonus route. Do not delete a character chasing the one-time allocation. Focus on hosted missions and practical purchases.
When should I buy expensive cars?
When you can buy one without postponing the business upgrade or operating reserve you still need. Pick a car you want to drive, and treat it as a reward rather than an income guarantee.
Should I follow weekly bonuses?
Use them when they fit what you own and enjoy. Check dates, eligible platforms, membership conditions, host requirements, and whether a reward is a rebate or an immediate payment. Temporary bonuses are not the same as the recurring first-completion weekly payout system.
